My Testimony
The Real Story Behind ThatBibleGuy
Jesus Christ saved me when I was 18 years old. But if I am being completely honest with you — and I want to be — that was just the beginning of a very long and sometimes very hard road. My upbringing was not easy. I went through things that most people never talk about, and those experiences made it incredibly difficult for me to understand God as a Father, and to truly believe that His love was real and that it was meant for someone like me.
For years I doubted my own salvation. I struggled deeply with faith, with forgiveness, with understanding who God really is. I have walked through trials and fires — some I made it through only by the grace of God, and others I failed badly. Even today I still wrestle with things. Faith. Salvation. Love. Scripture. Forgiveness. I do not have it all figured out and I am not going to pretend that I do.
I share that because I think it matters. I am not coming to you as someone who has everything together. I am coming to you as someone who has been broken, who has wrestled with God in the dark, and who keeps coming back to His Word because it is the only thing that has ever truly held me together.
If you have ever doubted your salvation, struggled to feel God’s love, or felt like your past disqualifies you — I want you to know that you are not alone. And you are in exactly the right place.
Why I Built This Site
We live in a time of enormous biblical confusion. False teachings are everywhere. Watered-down gospels fill social media feeds. Bad theology is being preached from pulpits every single week. And people who genuinely want to know God are being led astray or left completely without answers.
ThatBibleGuy exists because I wanted to create a space on the internet where people can come and actually learn the Word of God. Not my opinions. Not feel-good Christianity. The Bible — faithfully taught, honestly applied, and clearly explained. A place where real questions get real answers rooted in Scripture.
Whether you have been a Christian for 30 years or you are not even sure you believe yet — you are welcome here. Pull up a chair. Open your Bible. Let’s dig in together.
Statement of Faith
These are the core biblical convictions that shape everything taught on this site.
The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21). Scripture is sufficient for salvation, doctrine, correction, and instruction in righteousness.
The One True God
We believe there is one true and living God (Deuteronomy 6:4), eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one divine essence.
The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man (John 1:1,14; Colossians 2:9), born of the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23), sinless in life (Hebrews 4:15), who died as a substitutionary atonement for sinners (1 Peter 2:24), was bodily raised on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3–4), ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9), and will return in glory (Acts 1:11).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin (John 16:8), regenerates believers (Titus 3:5), indwells them (1 Corinthians 6:19), and sanctifies them in truth (2 Thessalonians 2:13).
Humanity and Sin
Humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), but fell into sin (Romans 5:12). All people are sinners by nature and choice (Romans 3:23), and are in need of redemption.
Salvation
Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8–9). Those who repent and believe the Gospel are justified, forgiven, and adopted as children of God (Romans 5:1; John 1:12).
The Church
The Church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22–23), composed of all true believers, called to worship God, edify one another, and proclaim the Gospel (Matthew 28:18–20).
The Return of Christ and Eternal State
We affirm the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13), the resurrection of the dead (John 5:28–29), final judgment (Revelation 20:11–15), eternal life for the redeemed, and eternal separation from God for the unrepentant.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died, and was buried; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy universal Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
